Idoo Free DVD Ripper is a free software program designed to extract audio and video streams contained in a DVD movie and convert them into lighter and more portable formats, like AVI or MPG, which is especially useful for making backups of your movies without taking up too much disk space, and without almost any noticeable loss of quality.
This program allows you to perform extraction tasks in almost all the video formats used nowadays, including those specific to popular portable audio and video players. It can also take JPG or BMP captures from and DVD or video file, and extract soundtracks to MP3 and other formats. To back up your movies, you just have to load the DVD, select the desired audio, subtitle and angle tracks, and click on the "Rip" button - that is all.
The program is fully configurable: you can choose specific settings for your ripping task, like the video size, the aspect, the video and audio quality, etc. Besides, you can also split the resulting video into customized fragments, either by file size or by duration. Every output format you can choose from has its own pre-configured settings, which you can manually adjust afterwards.
I have to mention that this review applies to the free version of the program; however, there is also a commercial version of it to which you can upgrade.
